Our organization is a collective of smaller regional clubs that provide a space in our community for larger men and the men who admire them. We are simply a contact resource for our member clubs. The Affiliated Big Men's Clubs (ABC) consists of thousands of men gathered together from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe. We come together for support, for encouragement, for social gatherings, and yes, even for love. The fact that such meetings turn out to be a positive experience is just icing on a very large cake of fellowship and caring. We don't have parties or meeting places at ABC, but we know many clubs who do. Our main goal is to be a resource so that you may fond a nearby club as well as have the ability to form your own organization. So... Is That All ABC Does? The men at ABC also enjoy a good party as much as the next guy. In keeping with the spirit of good times, we help sponsor conventions and regional parties throughout North America, and throughout the year. If there's no ABC club nearby, these are events throughout the year that you don't want to miss. Not only will you meet some of the best looking men of size in the world, but you'll have an opportunity to form friendships that will last a lifetime. If you want more information about these events, simply press the Events button.
You may wonder what the process is to join the ABC and what benefits you might receive from such a move. ABC is simply an "umbrella organization" designed to coordinate common interests such as regional conferences and international gatherings. ABC strives to promote awareness of the big men's communities within the gay community. We do this through our advertising campaign, made possible through your dues. Within the national and international markets. our goal is to find men who have never heard of Big Men's Clubs, and to help get needed information so that they can locate clubs in their area, or like yourself, create a new club in their area. While most clubs participate in an inter-club newsletter exchange, we also send out "The Affiliate" a newsletter concerning things of common interest to all our member clubs. This newsletter is printed quarterly, and is added to your regular newsletter. Joining ABC is a simple process: 1.Send in a letter stating your desire to join ABC, accompanied by a check or money order representing one dollar ($1) for each member you have at the time of joining. The best time to do this is around the first of the year when all other clubs are renewing their memberships. (For example if you join in September, you'll have to pay the dues again in January for the following year. Keep this in mind as we do not prorate the membership dues.) 2.Your application will then be presented at the Annual ABC Board Meeting (held at each Convergence) where is will be submitted for approval to the current ABC Clubs. Once it has been voted on, the results will be communicated to you. (Please don't be intimidated by this. Our clubs are full of big, friendly men who would like nothing better than to embrace other big men's groups into the organization. With your membership in ABC you shall receive voting privileges and access to information of prospective members taken from inquiries sent to ABC as part of our advertising campaign. ABC provides a network to all other clubs in the US and throughout the world. A Directory of Clubs is maintained by the secretary and updated periodically. This resource will help you access many lines of communication from other clubs. Each year ABC sanctions three or more conferences throughout the country. The major event, CONVERGENCE takes place on or near each Labor Day weekend. It is hosted by a member club in a major city. Eastern and Western Regional Conferences are also held each year, hosted by local clubs. These conference are a great way to get a wider picture of the Chubby/Chaser world, and have lots of fun as well. We are always looking for clubs willing to host these events. Decisions as to who and where these conferences take place is decided at the annual board meeting held at Convergence each year. Each year, during Convergence, we conduct an annual meeting of the ABC. Your club can elect or appoint a representative as well as an alternate to attend this meeting. Your club should then notify the secretary of your selections. These respresentatives will have voting priviesges during this meeting. Each year, the ABC elects officers and vote on other business issues affecting the organization. We sincerely hope that this information will help in forming your club. We are at your disposal to help in any way we can. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions. |
